Each winter, Mablethorpe Beach transforms into a thrilling race circuit for the famous Mablethorpe Sand Racing! Riders on motorbikes and quads compete on the sands in a high-speed battle against the tide — an action-packed coastal event that’s been entertaining crowds for decades.
This family-friendly event is held each year from the months of October to March, and is free to attend and watch. Many local businesses along the beachfront are open to provide the spectators with hot food and drink, to keep warm during the cold winter weather.
What To Expect
- 🏍 Fast-paced races featuring solo bikes & quads
- 🌊 Beachfront location on Mablethorpe’s main promenade
- 👪 Family-friendly atmosphere with great views for spectators

Spectators can watch from the promenade, with the best views near the start/finish area. Racing begins around 9 am and continues through until midday, depending on conditions.
Accessibility & Safety
Spectators often gather on the promenade, where the space is open and flat, suitable for most visitors. However, be aware that the beach can be soft and uneven, and during high winds, sand can blow up on the promenade. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on leads during the races for safety.
